Are Your Children Resilient?
One predictor a child's future well-being is how well the child knows their family history. The more family stories they know the more resilient they will be in life. Getting involved in family history can have a positive effect on self-esteem, anxiety, depression levels and family cohesiveness.
Emory University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill did a study about kids knowledge of their family history. Scoring high on the DYK scale has been associated with better social adjustment for the kids and better family functioning overall.
